Hilldown offer a bespoke design solution where you can personally tailor make your suite with ease. On each of our new suites we have a wide range of drop down options to facilitate the customisation requirements simply and effectively. As with every leather suite, the first thing you'll notice - and the most important - is the leather. We offer five different types of leather in numerous styles and colours.

Authentic Antique leather is the traditional leather used for a stunning Chesterfield finish. A corrected grain leather that has been buffed with a traditional print, the areas of detail - such as the buttoning and edges - are dark while the top coat is available in a range of stylish colours. This two toned effect will experience greater rub-off with use, exemplifying the timeless style of a Chesterfield suite.

Shelley Leather has an artificial grain pattern embossed on the leather with a pigmented topcoat finish, making it more durable and stain resistant than your standard leather without being more costly. A single tone leather such as the Shelley is ideal for enhancing traditional Chesterfield designs with a contemporary flair.

The Cristal Leathers are lightly buffed full grain hides, semi-analine finished with a blend of natural oils and waxes to create a distressed finish, with light and dark contrast within the leather. The leathers are slightly thicker than the Antique and Shelley leathers, and so are not available on all models. During manufacture, the leather undergoes stretching to prevent sagging over time, resulting in additonal lightening of the leather. We recommend you stretch a sample of the leather we send to you to see how the leather will change after manufacture, and we recommend waxing this type of leather regularly for longetivity and to prevent dryness.

Selvaggio Leather is a thicker, distressed pull-up leather leather with a distinctive waxy feel due to the extra fat liquors applied during tannage. The leather is designed to allow the natural variations of the leather to show through the finished coat. Pull-up leathers, including Selvaggio leather, do not have a consistent colour density across the whole hide, and are not as colour fast as pigmented hides. Selvaggio leather is designed to remain unique, evidence of marks and scarring will be seen through the surface finish. Each hide is unique, and swatch samples should be regarded as no more than a basic guide to the feel of the leather. We recommend you stretch a sample of the leather we send to you to see how the leather will change after manufacture, and we recommend waxing this type of leather regularly for longetivity and to prevent dryness.

Havanna Leather is a luxurious full grain pigmented leather, produced only on select hides, and finished with a pigmented topcoat. Slightly polished to present an excellent cutting yield, but with the softness and look of full grain leather. The effect produces a beautiful feel and finish with excellent durability. The process of this leather is very different and only the best hides can be used to produce this.

After the leather selection, you will be required to select the seating comfort and style. To ensure complete satisfaction, the seat itself can be filled with four varieties of reflex foam: very soft, soft, firm, very firm. Alternatively, we can offer a fibre filled foam combination cushion that increases softness. On selected models, we can offer a buttoned seating base that features the deep buttoning of a Chesterfield backrest. The buttoned seating has a firm seat and distinctive appeal.

We also offer a selection of bun feet and castors. The bun feet can be coloured in either yew, mahogany or oak to suit the colour co-ordination of your suite or home. We also offer the chance to upgrade your feet to high bun feet (in all 3 wood colours) to add that extra height and style to the suite, or castors (with or without castor cups) to aid ease of movement. For homes with wooden or parquet flooring we can attach carpet pads. Please request these after order.

To finalise the design, we can offer a selection of borders, including antique or brass studwork or double piping to supply the finishing touch to your tailor made suite. On selected models we can offer a rouched front piece. The antique studs are designed to look old and provide the authentic antique feel while the brass studs are more prominent in there appeal.
